Presenting a Thematic Review of the Research

How is a literature review different from an annotated bibliography

Thematic review of the literature example

Thematic reviews of literature are organized around a topic or issue, rather than the progression of time, or organization based solely on the author or paper.  An authentic thematic reviews tend to break away from chronological order and synthesizes information from different sources into a holistic understanding of a topic. A thematic literature review should not be a collection of paragraphs where each paragraph describes a particular paper or study (that is an Annotated Bibliography).  Rather a thematic literature review is a collection of paragraphs where each paragraphs takes information from various sources to describe or explain ideas or results of similar studies.
